Seer, 2023
A limited edition 'blind embossing' of the Desborough Mirror, an Iron Age mirror dating to around 50BC. This print started as a drawing before being hand carved into a relief block. The embossing is made by passing this relief block with paper through an etching press. They are pictured here in different lights to show how much the print changes depending on space or time of day.
A mirror must have been an important, powerful object in a world where, previously, reflections could only be glimpsed in still water. I have called this piece 'Seer' because I am intrigued about it must be like to really see oneself for the first time and the ways this must have influenced a sense of identity. The name also hints at my interest in the practice of using mirrors for divination and connection with the otherworld.

Trevethy Quoit, 2023
A limited edition, single colour hand-burnished lino print of Trevethy Quoit, a Neolithic dolmen situated in Cornwall. Hand-burnishing is where the ink is transferred from the block to the paper by rubbing it with a tool. In my case I use a large, smooth pebble from the pebble-bed heath near to my home.

I Come From Rock, 2023
A limited-edition ‘blind embossing’ of the Happisburgh Handaxe. This is one of the oldest stone tools found in the British Isles, signifying that humans have been walking these lands for almost a million years. How are our lives and our ways of being deeply entwined with rock? The print invites a close encounter to explore lines that may represent rock reflecting light, churning seas, or contours on a map.
